Serving El Mirage, AZ  |  In-Person Sessions  |  Located in Peoria, minutes away

El Mirage is a small city that asks a lot of the people who live there. Essential workers. Trades workers. Parents raising kids while managing jobs that do not leave much left over at the end of the day. A community that has historically had few options for mental health care close to home.

That is changing, and Inside Out Therapy + Consulting is part of that change. We are located in Peoria, directly adjacent to El Mirage, with in-person EMDR and trauma-informed care for adults, teens, and children. A short drive. A significant difference in what is available.

If you have been carrying something for a long time without support, or if you have thought about therapy but were not sure it was for you, this page is for you.

What we treat

A note for El Mirage residents who’ve never tried therapy

Therapy has a reputation that does not always match what it actually is. The idea that it requires you to lie on a couch and talk about your childhood for years, or that it is only for people in crisis, or that it means something is seriously wrong with you, is not what most people experience when they actually come in.

What it actually looks like is a conversation with someone who has specific training in what you are dealing with, in a room that does not feel clinical or sterile, at a pace that is yours. You do not have to have it figured out before you come in. You do not have to be in crisis. You just have to be ready to try something different.

If you are not sure whether therapy is right for you, or what to expect from a first session, our EMDR therapy page explains how we approach the work. Our team page gives you a sense of who you would be working with.

Why EMDR + why Inside Out

EMDR is one of the most researched and effective treatments available for trauma, anxiety, and the patterns that persist even when people understand exactly what is driving them. Every clinician at Inside Out is trained in EMDR through the same instructor, grounded in Francine Shapiro's foundational model. Learn more about how EMDR works and what to look for in a provider.

EMDR does not require you to talk through everything in detail. It does not require you to have the right words for what you are carrying. It works at the level of the nervous system, which means it can be effective even for people who have never been able to fully articulate what is wrong. For a lot of first-time therapy clients, that is a meaningful distinction.

We work with adults, teens, and children as young as five. Our specialties include trauma and PTSD, anxiety and chronic stress, first responder presentations, children's emotional regulation, attachment wounds, and grief. Meet the full team and find the right fit.

You don’t have to go through something dramatic to deserve support…

You just have to be carrying more than you can manage alone.

Inside Out works with adults and families from El Mirage and across the West Valley.

  • A first session at Inside Out is a conversation. You will meet your clinician, share what brought you in at whatever level of detail feels right, and get a sense of how the work might go. You are not committing to anything beyond showing up. Most people leave their first session feeling like it was less intimidating than they expected.

  • EMDR is a type of therapy that works through the nervous system rather than primarily through conversation. It does not require you to talk through traumatic events in detail, which makes it accessible for people who have avoided therapy for that reason. Our EMDR therapy page explains the process in plain language.
