EMDR Therapy Near Glendale, AZ

Trauma-Informed Care for the West Valley

Serving Glendale, AZ  |  In-Person Sessions  |  Located in Peoria, minutes away

Glendale is a city that carries a lot. A large and dedicated first responder community. Families navigating the particular pressures of a city still finding its footing as it grows. People who have been holding things together for a long time because that is what the circumstances required.

Quality trauma-informed therapy, and specifically EMDR, has not always been easy to find close to home for Glendale residents. Inside Out Therapy + Consulting is located in Peoria, directly adjacent to Glendale, with in-person sessions available for adults, teens, and children throughout the West Valley.

This is not telehealth. It is in-person care, delivered by a team of EMDR-trained clinicians, minutes from Glendale.

Our clients from Glendale and the surrounding West Valley include:

  • First responders, firefighters, law enforcement, and EMTs navigating cumulative trauma, moral injury, and the particular weight of years in high-exposure work

  • Healthcare workers and nurses carrying the emotional cost of a profession that gives constantly and rarely offers space to process

  • Adults dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma that has not responded to previous treatment

  • Moms and parents managing the mental load of caregiving alongside their own unprocessed history

  • Teens and children who need a therapist equipped to work with younger nervous systems

  • Anyone in the West Valley who has been ready for this kind of work and has not been able to find it close to home

What we treat

    Trauma + PTSD

Glendale residents navigating trauma that has not responded to previous treatment, or that has been carried quietly for years without a name, find EMDR-trained care at Inside Out minutes from home. Whether the trauma is rooted in a single event or accumulated over a lifetime of high-stakes experience, this is where we start.

    Anxiety + Chronic Stress

For Glendale adults whose anxiety is functional enough to manage but exhausting enough to notice. The kind that never fully quiets even when life looks fine on the outside, Inside Out offers an approach that works at the level where anxiety is actually generated, not just managed.

  • Teenage girl with arm around her mother while she prepares food in kitchen, representing attachment-based family therapy in Peoria Arizona

    Attachment Wounds + Relationship Strain

The relationship patterns that Glendale clients bring into therapy are rarely new. They formed early, ran quietly for years, and show up reliably in every significant relationship. EMDR and attachment-focused work help the nervous system update what it learned before conscious awareness could catch up.

  • Mother and young daughter laying side by side across a bed with legs up, representing child therapy and emotional regulation support at Inside Out Therapy in Peoria Arizona

    Children's Emotional + Behavioral Regulation

Glendale families bringing children to Inside Out often describe the same thing: a child who is clearly struggling but cannot tell you why, or whose behavior is communicating something the nervous system has not yet found words for. Sand tray therapy and EMDR adapted for younger nervous systems reach what conversation alone cannot.

    Grief, Loss + Life Transitions

Grief in Glendale looks like the first responder spouse who has lost the person they married to the job. The parent navigating an empty house. The adult carrying a loss that others do not fully recognize. Inside Out holds space for all of it, including the kind that does not fit a recognized category.

    First Responders + Helping Professionals

Glendale has one of the largest municipal fire departments in Arizona. Its law enforcement and emergency services community is significant. Inside Out sees first responders from across the West Valley who have been absorbing the cost of the work for years and are ready to stop managing it alone. EMDR is one of the most researched treatments available for cumulative trauma. This is where that work happens.

Why EMDR + why Inside Out

EMDR is one of the most researched and effective treatments available for trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and the patterns that persist even when people understand exactly what is driving them. Every clinician at Inside Out is trained in EMDR through the same instructor, grounded in Francine Shapiro's foundational model. Learn more about how EMDR works and what to look for in a provider.

What that means in practice is that when you work with anyone at Inside Out, you are not gambling on the quality of the approach. The clinical standard is consistent across the team. The fit with a specific clinician is about the relationship and the presenting concerns, not about whether one person's training is better than another's.

We work with adults, teens, and children as young as five. Our specialties include trauma and PTSD, anxiety and chronic stress, first responder presentations, grief and loss, attachment wounds, and children's emotional regulation. Meet the full team and find the right fit.

Beyond EMDR, we offer sand tray therapy and animal-assisted therapy through Liberty, our Great Dane service dog in training — two additional ways we reach what conversation alone cannot.

A note for Glendale’s first responders

Glendale has one of the largest municipal fire departments in Arizona, alongside a significant law enforcement and emergency services presence. We see a lot of first responders from the West Valley at Inside Out, partly because the culture of the profession does not always make space for what it costs, and partly because Glendale residents have historically had limited options for providers who understand that culture from the inside.

Cumulative trauma is not the same as burnout. The interventions that help are different. And the right therapist is one who will not flinch at what you bring into the room, and who knows the difference between managing symptoms and actually resolving what is underneath them.

If you are a first responder or a family member of one, our first responder therapy page is a good place to start.

You have spent your whole career showing up for everyone else…

This is the space to show up for yourself.

Inside Out works with first responders and helping professionals from Glendale and across the West Valley.

The City of Glendale also maintains community resources for residents navigating a range of needs. For mental health care specifically, we encourage Glendale residents to prioritize finding a provider who is clinically trained in evidence-based approaches rather than proximity alone.
